The Quilt----

The work on the quilt continues---

Putting together the 17" squares---
Sorry--Care--I had to pin--

I forgot to take a picture of the 17" squares sewin together--but this is the layout that I did--

Next I cut the 17" squares into 4  8.5" squares

Then laid them out in the Disappearing Nine Patch Pattern---

I was too "structered" when I sewed the squares together which it made it more difficult to lay them out without like fabrics touching--next time I will be more random.

Now the rows are stacked, marked and ready for the next step--

I am hoping the 1/4" presser foot I ordered will be here today--I need to get the rows sewed together and the seam markings on my machine are pathetic. It was hard to keep the seam straight. I hope to be working on this tonight.

Flowers!

Seems like everyone is posting pictures of their gardens and flowers. I just got Scott Kelby's Digital Photography book from the library and thought I would try out his "flower technique". Keep in mind that I am still using a Kodak point and shoot---

My front yard is St. Augustine grass but the backyard is a wildflower meadow-
I'm trying to get a good picture of it to show you but for now--

These are the wildflowers that grow in my backyard--

I tried for some close-ups--

These are referred to as Beach Sunflowers--

These are Gaillardia--also known as Blanket flower--

So what do you think?
Not too bad for a simple little point & shoot--

Quilt beginnings

The squares are cut and I'm ready to start sewing--

I've sewn my 2 squares together using the chain-piece method---

Here are the 3 sets of two squares--

Now to sew the third square--

Here's how the nine-patch pieces will look--

All stacked and ready for the next step--

As you can see I'm making a quilt for fall
That gives me plenty of time to get it done--

Sand Sculpting Festival

We went to the Art of Sand festival on---

Just up the road in --

There were Dolphins--

And Manatees--

There were sand artists from all over the world.
Their work was--

Amazing--

Incredible--

Fascinating--

Unbelievable--

This was my favorite-

How did they do the tree branches?

Time Flies When.....

It has been a whirlwind of a month since my last post.

First it was getting ready for my son and daughter-in-law's visit from Seattle.
It was wonderful to see them and hear about Seattle.
They really like living out there but it is a long trip home.

Then it was getting the house ready for my daughter, son-in-law and grandbabies visit.

Pancakes are a must for breakfast at Nana's!!

We watched the Shuttle Launch from the backyard.

It was very early. Had to wake them up and carry them outside.

Here they are in the Bunny Masks from my mom--

I got Greyson's shirt (the one he's wearing here) and Bridget's romper done just in time--

This past week I've been putting the house back together and getting ready to start some new projects.
More about that later this week.
